About the Chicago Education Alliance
The Chicago Education Alliance (CEA) is a consortium of Chicago area
universities dedicated to the improvement of K-16 education. The CEA includes
eleven major universities, the City Colleges of Chicago, and the Chicago
Public Schools,
During the past ten years, the CEA has been called upon to develop and
implement new initiatives in conjunction with our multiple partners. The
major project in which the CEA is currently involved is the Chicago GEAR
UPAlliance (click on the icon to the left for more information on this
project).
With our increasing focus on the transition from high school to college,
and our increasing partnership with the Chicago Public Schools Office
of Postsecondary Education, the CEA has created the Postsecondary Leadership
Council (PLC) as our main operating structure.
About the Postsecondary Leadership Council
Through partnerships with CPS high schools deeper pathways for students
to successfully transition into postsecondary educational institutions
will be created to provide appropriate academic fit, affordability options
and support services leading to successful degree completion.
This mission will be fulfilled by utilizing campus resources, faculty,
students and the campus itself, to disseminate information and supports
needed to a) familiarize students with the college experience while still
in high school, and b) offering specialized assistance to students after
they have entered college to increase the number of students successfully
obtaining a college education,
Postsecondary Leadership Council Goals
The purpose of the Council is to serve as a sounding board for the Executive
Officers of the CPS on emerging policy issues and as a means for galvanizing

and access to college;
